Pea & Ham Soup

Hello All,

Welcome to our second soup recipe. This super yummy soup takes a while to prepare but is super delicious.

Utensils:

  • Large Saucepan
  • Measuring cups
  • Chef’s knife
  • Cutting board
  • Garlic crusher

Ingredients:

  • 500g Green Split Peas
  • Small Smoked Bacon Hock
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 large carrots
  • 4 celery sticks
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 tblsp olive oil

Method:

  1. Prepare split peas according to on-pack instructions.
  2. Dice onion and crush garlic then add to saucepan. Chop carrot and celery and set aside.
  3. Fry off onion, garlic and oil in a large saucepan. Add all remaining ingredients, cover saucepan with lid and cook on low for approximately 2 hours or until thickened, stirring regularly.
  4. Remove the hock from the saucepan and remove skin and fat. Shred ham and set aside.

Place shredded ham back into the saucepan and stir to combine.
